  1. Did you know that some of the animals would survive without water because they are already use to not drinking. Also some of them can't survive without water because they need WATER!

Example: A polar bear sleeps for 6 months without drinking water.

  3. Today I found some ways to help sea creatures and some suggestions: • http://ocean.si.edu/blog
The threats faced by our ocean planet may seem overwhelming. In the face of pollution, climate change, overfishing, and other daunting problems, what you can do on your own may seem like a drop in the bucket. But if we begin working together now, we can make a huge difference. Here are some ways to get started: Be Water Wise, All water on Earth is connected. Even if you don't live near the coast, water that goes down your drain or runs off from your yard can eventually make its way into the ocean. The Mississippi River, for example, is like a giant funnel collecting water from thousands of smaller rivers and streams. It drains 41 percent of the continental U.S. into the Gulf of Mexico. Because of run-off from farms and fields, the Gulf now experiences large annual dead zones, or areas with so little oxygen that sea life cannot survive there. You can help keep the ocean—and other waterways—healthy by reducing your family's use of chemicals inside and out. Trim Down Trash, Remember that trash we "throw away" doesn't disappear. And moving water—whether waves on the beach, the stream running through your neighborhood, or rainwater flowing toward the storm drain—can carry loose trash to the ocean. Garbage, especially plastic, is a major hazard for marine animals. Sea birds, turtles, seals, and other animals can mistake floating plastic for food or become tangled in it and die. Help prevent this by curbing your family's throwaway habits. Be Fish Friendly

Yes, you can make water drinkable. To make water saltwater safer the process to make it safer is called desalination. Desalination is a process to make it safer that removes minerals from sea water.

  11. i found out that Water lilies – or Nymphomania, to scientists – are considered by many to be the jewels of the pond. Not only are they beautiful to look at, but they also serve an important purpose in the pond, mainly in aiding its ecosystem. Water lilies spread across the waters surface, filling it with color and vibrancy all the while keeping the pond and the creatures in it safe and healthy. produce.

Besides being pleasing to the eye, water lilies do a great deal to maintain the well-being of the ponds they inhabit. For one, they provide shade to keep the water temperature down during the hot summer months. By blocking out a lot of sunlight, the lilies help to keep the algae growth down. Their shade also gives shelter to any fish that may be in the pond – a respite from both the sun and any predators that may be lurking nearby. They also absorb nutrients in the water that would normally feed these undesirable green plants, keeping the water clear and clean-looking.

  12. Some marine life use sound to localize, detect and characterize objects. They emit clicks, or short pulses of sound to help them these marine listen for echoes and detect objects underwater. Some dolphins and whales use echolocation to locate food. The animals send out pulsed sounds of high frequency and intensity that are reflected back as soon as they strike a target. The echo helps the animals identify the shape size of an object, to estimate how far away the object is and to identify the direction in which the object is moving.

Lotus Flowers are found in hot places. A lotus flower blossoms once a year at a summer time but after it is planted. A lotus Flower must be planted in the soil under the river to survive/grow. A lotus flower is usually mistaken as a water Lilly. A Lotus Flower is the national flower of India. The Lotus Flower is native Asia and flourishes in a wide range of climates from India to China. Lotus Flower grows in shallow and murky water. It opens in the morning, and the petals fall in the afternoon. The flowers petals float on the water.

  29. THREATS:
orcas (a tupe of whales)are among the most contaminated marine mammals in the world. Pollution and chemical contamination make orcas more susceptible to disease and likely cause reproductive difficulties.

  30. Question: how can birds fly?
Answer: pointed wings of the bird propel them quickly throw the air.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Orcas, or killer whales, are the largest of the dolphins and one of the world's most powerful predators. They feast on marine mammals such as seals, sea lions, and even whales, employing teeth that can be four inches (ten centimeters) long. They are known to grab seals right off the ice. They also eat fish, squid, and seabirds.

Though they often frequent cold, coastal waters, orcas can be found from the polar regions to the Equator.

Killer whales hunt in deadly pods, family groups of up to 40 individuals. There appear to be both resident and transient pod populations of killer whales. These different groups may prey on different animals and use different techniques to catch them. Resident pods tend to prefer fish, while transient pods target marine mammals. All pods use effective, cooperative hunting techniques that some liken to the behavior of wolf packs.

Whales make a wide variety of communicative sounds, and each pod has distinctive noises that its members will recognize even at a distance. They use echolocation to communicate and hunt, making sounds that travel underwater until they encounter objects, then bounce back, revealing their location, size, and shape.

Killer whales are protective of their young, and other adolescent females often assist the mother in caring for them. Mothers give birth every three to ten years, after a 17-month pregnancy.

Orcas are immediately recognizable by their distinctive black-and-white coloring and are the intelligent, trainable stars of many aquarium shows. Killer whales have never been extensively hunted by humans.
